Trail running training app for plan compliance and progress tracking

Ontrack is a coming-soon web app for trail runners and ultra runners. It connects a training plan with Strava activity data, checks whether completed training matches the plan, highlights weekly distance, duration, vert, and workout completion, and helps runners understand whether their training is improving fitness and performance.

Ontrack

Don't find out at mile 30 that your training wasn't on track.

Ontrack reads your Strava against your plan and shows you if you're doing the work — week by week, in plain English. GAP-adjusted. Trail-aware. The feedback loop self-coached runners have been missing.

// THE GAP

Your spreadsheet says what to do. Strava says what you did.

But neither one can tell you if your training is actually working.

Over weeks and months, the picture gets blurrier. Are you keeping up? Are your long runs progressing? Is the plan you're following making you fitter, or are you just logging miles and hoping?

Race day will answer those questions. But by then it's too late to fix anything.

// HOW IT WORKS

Bring your plan

Have a plan? Import it from any source — a coach, a book, a spreadsheet. No plan? Pick from our template library, built on the methodologies of Jason Koop, David Roche, and Uphill Athlete. Either way, you see your entire training block from day one. Every phase. Every week. The full arc. Not one week at a time.

Run your runs

Connect Strava once. Your activities match to planned workouts automatically. Your workouts go on your calendar so you never miss one. Zero manual logging. Zero spreadsheet cross-referencing.

Know you're ready

Not "I think so." Not "I hope so." Ontrack reads every run against your plan and tells you exactly where you stand. Did you do what you said you would? Did you put in the work, honestly? Are you getting fitter over time? Distance, vert, effort. Plain English, far enough out to fix what's broken before race day.

// WHAT YOU GET

See the full picture. Not just this week.

Most training apps reveal one week at a time. Ontrack shows your entire training block: every week, every phase, from day one to race day. Your plan isn't a mystery. It's a map.

Know where you stand. Not just what happened.

Strava shows you what you did. Ontrack shows you if it was enough. Compliance scoring across distance, elevation, and effort, so you know whether your training is working, not just that it happened.

// WHY I'M BUILDING THIS

I spent nearly two decades in SaaS: building products that solved real problems. When I picked up trail running and started following a structured training plan, I hit the same wall every self-coached runner hits: no way to know if my training was actually working.

I had a plan in a spreadsheet. I had Strava. But I had no way to connect the two without cross-referencing everything manually, every day. And no easy way to answer the questions that actually mattered: Am I executing my training program good enough? And is that execution helping me get fitter?

So I built Ontrack. Not as an elite runner prescribing workouts. As the exact runner this tool is for. Self-coached, plan-following, wanting the feedback loop that coached athletes take for granted. The coaching AI is trained on methodologies from Jason Koop, David Roche, Uphill Athlete, and the leading voices in trail and ultrarunning science. The product thinking comes from a career in software products.

It's helped me dial in my training for ultramarathons and stay on track with putting in the work.

I hope it will help you too.
